This tidy, slick establishment is one of the few ‘hot’ café’s in St. Kilda where you don’t have to camp the night to get a table on the weekend.
Although the space isn’t huge there’s a banquet table for smaller groups, singles and couples, and the tables at the far end lend themselves to a bit more privacy.
But Miss Jackson isn’t just looks and personality, it’s tasty.
Freshness and quality produce goes a long way; it would seem that we’re stating the obvious here, but you’d be surprised. These things, consistency and their smooth, delicious coffee are what Miss Jackson do well, and why we continue to go back. That, and for the following (which in our opinion is one of the standout brunch dishes we’ve ever had); the Potato and Leek Hash with Asparagus, Smoked Trout and a Poached Egg – $16 (we returned two weekends straight to get our fix of this culinary enlightening dish).
Other items to try are the Coconut and Hazelnut Bread with Caramelised Pineapple and Ricotta ($8.50), Corn Fritters with Bacon, Avocado, Roasted Vine Tomatoes and Chili Jam ($14.50) and the Herb Scrambled Eggs with Homemade Corn Bread ($13).
