5 easy Christmas recipes final

Gift buying, house visits, kris kringles, dinners, parties – Christmas time is fun but exhausting. When it comes to the Christmas table in my family there is a lot of time and effort put into a feast that could feed my family, the three kings and then some. Unfortunately a lot of this load is carried by my Mum who let’s be frank is the queen of the kitchen. However, over the years my sisters and I have realised how hard this is and that sometimes all the work isn’t worth it if she can’t actually sit down with us to enjoy it because she’s checking on the bacon wrapped turkey or dishing out a lasagna with more layers than a mille feuille, not to mention the stress of it all. So, for the last few years we’ve taken the Christmas table into our own hands and started divvying up dishes. Mum usually focuses on one or two things, Dad does the antipasto platter and sometimes even the turkey, and we do salads, entrees and desserts.

Sometimes the best meals are the ones where everyone has contributed, because it’s the people and the food that make the memory. So, in light of creating a simpler Christmas I’ve put together five easy Christmas recipes that often feature at our table. They are simple, flavoursome, quick to prepare and work very well with roast turkey.

Merry Christmas and I hope that you all have a full and fun festive season minus the stress.
