What is the Festive Baking Swap?
The Festive Baking Swap started in 2019 when I was a new mother to a toddler, and living overseas during the pandemic. I wanted to share some joy during a globally dark time. To me there is nothing better than receiving a package full of goodies, and as the festive season is a key time for baking I thought I’d combine the two.
In the Swap you’ll be paired with a partner, and send each other a care package full of baked or bought festive treats. This is honestly one of my favourite traditions of the holidays and the feeling of opening your box never gets old. It’s a surprise every time, not knowing what will be inside and sorting and eating through your box of goodies. It’s also incredible to see the amount of thought and care people go to, to tailor their box to their partners preferences while also sharing their own cultural traditions or heritage bakes. The registration fee is $10AUD. This not only secures your spot in the swap, but helps cover administrative costs and time allocating you to your baking swap partner. Please note, a percentage of the registration fee will also be donated to charity.
REGISTER FOR THE 2026 FESTIVE BAKING SWAP
How does the Festive Baking Swap work?
– After you’ve registered and sign ups have closed, you’ll receive an email with a few questions so we can match you to your baking partner (based on interests and geographic location).
– Once all participants have shared their responses, you’ll be assigned your baking swap partner. We will do our best to match you with someone in the same area or country, and you’ll receive some information about your partner’s interests, treat preferences and any allergies to be aware of.
– Next, and the best part…you get to prepare your partner’s baking box! I’ll send you all the information you need to pack your box including an idea and tips checklist, recipes and reminders to ensure you send your package on time.
– Your box should include six items. These can be solely home baked goodies , all store-bought treats or a mixture of both. The value of bought goodies should not exceed $40AUD excluding postage.
– After you bake/buy, pack and send your parcel all you have to do is wait for yours to arrive!
– Part of the registration fee is always donated to charity, so once the swap finishes I’ll email you to let you know which charity we chose and how much was donated.
