Omar and the Marvellous Coffee Bird is  a cute little cafe’ and coffee roastery nesting on the other side of Nepean Highway. A popular destination for lycra clad cyclists on weekends, Omar specialises in coffee, roasting their own beans on site. They have many sweets and treats available at their front counter and a compact, to-the-point menu with a handful of breakfast offerings. I like the organic beans with labneh and avocado on sourdough ($13.50), though their coffee really is the reason their loyal patrons return again and again.

Omar has indoor and outdoor seating, but ideal for couples, solo diners and groups of 3-6, anymore would be uncomfortable.

Service is generally great and staff are always jovial – often joking and interacting with each other. Bright, friendly spot in Gardenvale with serious, consistent coffee that comes with a smile.
