Italico Pizza St Kilda

In Melbourne there is no shortage of excellent pizzeria’s with go-to’s like DOC, I Carusi, Pizza Farro, and Pizza e Birra just to name a few. That doesn’t mean however, that we can’t make room for more.

Newcomer, Itali.co has made an easy entry into our list of formidable Melbourne pizzerie. Expect a thin, well cooked base, with just the right amount of sauce. Our choice? Our favourite style, Margherita with some fresh San Daniele prosciutto on the top ($20). At Itali.co this is called the Regina Margherita (Queen Margherita) with tomato, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, and Ligurian extra virgin olive oil, and just $5 for the extra prosciutto. This is actually quite a decent price for a pizza of this quality compared to what others are charging.

Their pizza list is sizeable with the classics like Napoletana and Capricciosa as well as an array of alternatives like the Tartufata (White truffle cream, fresh mozzarella, mushroom, rocket and parmesan – $19.50), and their ode to Berlusconi, the Bunga Bunga (Fresh Mozzarella, berkshire sausage, smoked scamorza, friarelli and fresh chilli – $18.50).

If you’re not craving pizza, you will be satisfied in other ways with a great range of plates to share like the prosciutto plate, and arancini, as well as a terrific offering of meat, seafood and vegetarian pastas and mains like Pork Belly, Wagyu Steak and more. In our case the ‘more’ was the sweet nutella pizza served with the finest vanilla bean ice cream we’ve tasted in a while.

Fabulous location, friendly and reasonably quick service with reliable food that won’t cost you a good pair of soccer boots. And if you’re in the area, they have also docked at Sorrento. The menu for Sorrento as well as St Kilda have been included for you to peruse below.
